The Embassy of Libya presents books to ARENA, Tsukuba University

The Embassy of Libya, Tokyo has presented selected books to Alliance for Research on North Africa (ARENA), Tsukuba University.

Chargé d’Affaires ad interim and First Secretary of the Libyan Embassy, Mr. Mohamed Melad visited ARENA at Tsukuba University on Wednesday August 20^th 2014 and met with Dr. Hiroko Isoda, Professor of Faculty of Life and Environmental Sciences, Director of Alliance for Research on North Africa (ARENA) and Member of the Science Council of Japan, also attended the meeting Dr. Hajime Kamiyama, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Business Sciences, ARENA.

At the outset of the meeting, Prof. Isoda extended welcome for the visit, and gave a brief explanation regarding ARENA which was established in April 2004 as a center specialized in variety of sciences, saying that ARENA started with researches focused on North African Region (Mauritania, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt) then extended its activities to include other countries in Southern Europe and the Middle East Region.

Prof. Isoda showed that ARENA has 4 main research areas as following:

Bioscience: such as researches on using plants for medical purposes.

Environment and Energy: researches regarding climate changes, water, soil and renewable energy.

Humanities and Social Sciences

ICT and Innovation

Prof. Isoda referred to research projects between ARENA and North African Countries aiming to create a database in sciences, literature, economy, society, comparative religion as well as Islamic Economy as an important area concerns Japan when enters markets in the region.

She also mentioned her visit to Libya in 2007, after which cooperation between ARENA and Libya increased.

  

Mr. Melad expressed gratitude for the explanation and for their precious time dedicated to the meeting. He also expressed his pleasure to visit Tsukuba University for the 3^rd time in order to establish a strong relation between Libya and ARENA, saying that he hopes to open new areas of cooperation in general and in water and renewable energies in particular.

Mr. Melad extended his wish to enhance communication between the Embassy and ARENA in various ways such as exchanging visiting students and researchers as a way to benefit both Libya and Japan. He mentioned that the main purpose of this visit is to present some books written by Libyan authors and writers to ARENA, and that he is seeking to establish relations with Japanese universities and research institutes.

Prof. Isoda replied that she wishes to increase number of Libyan students and researchers in Tsukuba University in all fields.

Mr. Melad presented ARENA with number of books in various fields, saying that he wishes these books will be useful for the center.

السفارة الليبية تهدي مجموعة من الكتب لمركز أبحاث شمال أفريقيا بجامعة تسوكوبا

أهدت السفارة الليبية مجموعة منتقاة من الكتب إلى مركز أبحاث شمال أفريقيا بجامعة تسوكوبا. 　

فقد قام السيد محمد ميلاد القائم بالأعمال بالوكالة وسكرتير أول سفارة ليبيا في طوكيو بزيارة مركز أبحاث شمال أفريقيا (أرينا) بالجامعة , والتقى بالبروفيسور/ هيروكو إيسودا الأستاذة بكلية العلوم البيئية والحياتية ومديرة المركز وعضو مجلس العلوم الياباني , والدكتور/ هاجيمي كاميياما أستاذ مساعد بكلية العلوم التجارية بجامعة تسوكوبا.

في مستهل اللقاء أعربت البروفيسور/ إيسودا عن ترحيبها بتلك الزيارة , وقدمت شرحا مختصرا بخصوص مركز أبحاث شمال أفريقيا الذي تم إنشاؤه في شهر أبريل من عام ٢٠٠٤م كمركز متخصص في أبحاث العلوم بشتى فروعها, وقالت أن المعهد بدأ بأبحاث تخص دول شمال أفريقيا (موريتانيا , المغرب, الجزائر, تونس, ليبيا, مصر) وتوسعت أنشطته لتشمل التعاون مع دول أخرى في جنوب أوربا ومنطقة الشرق الأوسط.

وسردت البروفيسور/ إيسودا مجالات البحث بالمركز والتي تتلخص في أربعة أقسام:

العلوم الحيوية والبيولوجية (مثل استخدام نباتات طبيعية من شمال أفريقيا كمصدر لصناعة الأدوية).

البيئة والطاقة , وإجراء أبحاث حول التغيرات المناخية والمياه والتربة , وموارد الطاقة المتجددة.

العلوم الإنسانية والإجتماعية

تكنولوجيا المعلومات والاتصالات , والإبداع والابتكار

وأشارت البروفيسور/ إيسودا إلى مشروعات الأبحاث بين المركز ودول شمال أفريقيا التي تهدف لخلق قاعدة بيانات تخص مجالات العلوم والأدب والاقتصاد والمجتمع والأديان المقارنة , فضلا عن مجال الاقتصاد الإسلامي الذي يعد مجالا هاما بالنسبة لليابان عند دخول الأسواق في المنطقة.

وذكرت أنها قامت بزيارة ليبيا في عام ٢٠٠٧م , حيث تطور التعاون بين المركز وليبيا منذ ذلك الحين.

من جانبه أعرب السيد/ ميلاد القائم بالأعمال بالوكالة عن امتنانه لذلك الشرح وعن الوقت الثمين الذي خصص للقاء, كما أعرب عن سعادته لزيارة جامعة تسوكوبا للمرة الثالثة لتأسيس علاقة قوية بين مركز أبحاث شمال أفريقيا وليبيا , قائلا أنه يرغب فتح أفق للتعاون بين الجانبين بشكل عام , وفي مجالي المياه والطاقة البديلة بشكل خاص. وأعرب القائم بأعمال السفارة الليبية عن رغبته تعزيز التواصل بين السفارة ومركز أبحاث شمال أفريقيا مثل تبادل زيارات الطلاب والباحثين بما يعود بالنفع على ليبيا واليابان, قائلا أن الغرض الأساسي من الزيارة اليوم هو إهداء مجموعة من الكتب لمؤلفين وكتَّاب ليبيين للمركز, وأنه يسعى لتأسيس علاقات مع الجامعات ومعاهد البحث اليابانية.

وأعربت البروفيسور / إيسودا عن رغبتها في زيادة عدد الطلاب والباحثين من ليبيا في جامعة تسوكوبا في شتى المجالات.

وقدم القائم بأعمال السفير الليبي مجموعة من الكتب في عدد من المجالات متمنيا أن يستفيد مركز أبحاث شمال أفريقيا منها.
