Libyan Public Holiday: Martyr’s Day on 16th Sept, 2015

The Embassy will be closed on 16th September, 2015 as Martyr’s day:

We celebrate the memory of that man on this day, with great sorrow yet with love for that hero who with his sword wrote verses of courage and self-denial in the Libyan history, that man who fought magnificently for the defense of his country. Omar al-Mukhtar fought for twenty years against the armies of colonization, without ever fearing death and without any fear of the infernal instruments of his enemy. Omar al-Mukhtar was a martyr of the whole Libyan  people, and we as Libyans must be very proud of him that’s why we are celebrating his memory every year.
